I started 805 Segunda February 7th 2021. There was a few reasons to me starting, but the one that pushed me to take action was economical, I needed money. I was a broke graduate student and I was unhappy with where I was in life. I had been following the status quo that I felt society expected of me. As I was sorting things out to become a happier, healthier, more fulfilled self, 805 Segunda was born.

I’ve loved thrifting ever since I was little. My mom would take me and my brothers to la segunda when ever we needed things for the kitchen, or for clothes or no mas pa bobear, to pass the time. On one of these trips my mom found me the COOLEST! jeans. They were baggy jeans with a Tweety patch on the left leg. I LOVED them! And as a kid in the 90’s, you know I was feeling fly AF on the playground.
Feeling the rush of finding a unique, well made vintage piece for an incredible deal is amazing. Instant serotonin boost! I grew up thrifting and when I got to college I really took it on as a hobby. I thrifted so much that I started collecting pieces that I envisioned one day reselling at my very own thriftique. 805 Segunda came to fruition as a result of all of this: my humble upbringing, my love for quality and sustainability, and my love of art and fashion.
Soon I was reselling my collection on Instagram and at community pop up events. I connected with my community from Paso Robles to Santa Maria. I got to meet and connect with a lot of bad ass mujeres. Todas chingonas! Entrepreneurs and creatives working together so we could all come up.

I eventually landed an amazing career opportunity and did my best to keep reselling, but life got hectic. I made the decision to stop reselling for a while and instead take time to do some more soul searching to figure out the next phase of 805 Segunda. Y aqui estamos! 805segunda.com is the evolution of what I started two years ago and the dawn of so much more. 805 Segunda is here to inspire you to create and play with your fashion and style by shopping sustainably and supporting local business. If you are a fellow thrift queen, lover of art and fashion, if you value community and sustainability, please stay tuned and share! Thank you for all your support.
